A nerd is a person with interests that are considered unusual, obscure, and too intellectually demanding by the mainstream society.

Nerds typically do not participate in mainstream culture, such as sports.

Nerds may have difficulty making friends or forming long-term intimate sexual relationships.

Nerds are usually interested in science. Some nerds may be interested in the arts as well.

Nerds do differ from geeks.
